Jobs. Services. Neighborhood.

Bringing new life to Brockton Heights and Lovett Brook.

The City of Brockton developed a land use for the Good Samaritan/Lovett Brook area (see map below). The Brockton Planning Board adopted the plan on February 2, 2022. The focus of the planning process was to develop a land use strategy that would support the Good Samaritan Medical Center and provide jobs and amenities for the neighborhood.

This process will took about nine months and included online surveys and meetings to engage the community in discussions about the future of this site.

The City worked with a planning team led by Innes Associates and including Tighe & Bond, Halvorson Tighe & Bond Studio, and RKG Associates. MassDevelopment sponsored this planning process.

February 2, 2022

The Brockton Planning Board adopted the Lovett Brook Land Use Plan on February 1, 2022.

The plan and appendices are available on the documents page or click on the image to the right for the plan.

Planning Area and Study Goals

This is the boundary for the area of this study. The area includes the Good Samaritan Medical Center and Lovett Brook, which is currently impaired by invasive species and trash.

Study questions:

  • How can we bring good jobs to the area, leveraging Good Samaritan Medical Center and the site’s proximity to Routes 24 and 27 (North Pearl Street)?

  • What can we do to support existing nearby residents and on-site businesses while looking to a future mix of businesses within the area?

  • How can Lovett Brook become an asset for the entire area?

  • How can we improve connectivity and mobility to and from the site?
